Altering Nature

A fault of human beings is that we refuse to acknowledge that we can drastically alter seemingly huge and unchangeable parts of nature. An example of this is COVID-19; We never thought something like this could happen, and it's happening right now. This global pandemic has been eye-opening for a lot of us. We can now see that unpredictable and seemingly impossible events can actually occur, and in the drop of a dime. The coronavirus, I think, made a lot more people willing to accept climate change. We need to start trusting science again and start funding studies that look into how we impact nature, so we can predict if we are going down a dangerous path. The science world feels like they have been sidelined from policy, and I agree. Just as all people deserve to live, all species deserve to live. It is ethically wrong to drive a species into extinction. On the bright side, it is empowering to see people are able to get together and change the trajectory of a species.
