Empathy, not Inequality

Inequality is toxic for everybody, even those on top. For example, if we’re talking about gender status, men are on the top and women are on the bottom. Gender inequality creates toxic masculinity which leads to men feeling like they have to suppress their emotions and constantly show great strength. The fact is we are all human. And we too often judge and dehumanize others instead of being empathetic and understanding. Empathy is in short supply. And empathy goes down in direct proportion to equality. First inequality goes up, then so does obesity, imprisonment, illiteracy, bullying, etc. Inequality taints an entire society, not just those on the bottom, not just those on the top, but everybody suffers. We need to see one instead of many. In order to create solidarity, we need to come together as human beings. And building empathy among people who want change is key to doing this.
