To me it seems like “joyous unmappability” is about just being you you are, instead of trying to figure out who you are. This can be difficult in a world where we are constantly being labeled and put into boxes. However, the labels society puts on us don't define us. Definitions and the meanings of words change, just like people do. Everything is always in a constant, changing and shifting motion; and our “selfs” are apart of that. Who we are, in every way, is a spectrum. You don’t have to be gay or straight, or a boy or a girl; You can be, but you can also be somewhere in the middle. Yet society tries to tell us and molds us to be one or the other. “Joyous unmappability” is about finding happiness within yourself, despite all of the stereotypes. I hate when people ask me what kind of dancer I am. As if my answer will define who they think I am. Yes, I dance, but better yet, I am a “mover.”
