You know —- art itself could be defined as an expression of how one has been socialized in this world. Personally, all of the art that I make is about my life, how I see the world, and how I situate myself in all of this. I believe that I am a product of my environment. The people I’ve met and the places that I’ve been have shaped me into the person that I am. I think that nurture and nature both have a lot to do with who I am becoming. I believe that movement is my purpose. I believe that I am in this world to experience dance, and to share dance with others. However, I also believe that I am at the place in my dance career that I am thanks to those who have supported me, nurtured me — my parents, my mentors, my friends. Dance is a sport. So it’s interesting to think about sports and how they are affected by socialization.
